**Don the Beachcomber: A Culinary Paradise in Kailua-Kona** Nestled along the stunning coastline of Kailua-Kona, Don the Beachcomber offers a delightful fusion of flavors that transport you to a tropical paradise. This vibrant restaurant has shifted from a snack-centric venue to a full-fledged culinary experience, and guests are raving about the transformation. Many diners, including Byunbyun Mankey, applaud the reliable service and efficiency, making it an ideal spot for both casual meals and special occasions. The evening concerts, such as the Thursday performance by Henry Kapono, create an enchanting atmosphere, complemented by expertly crafted cocktails and standout dishes like the hummus platter. A highlight of the menu is the PHO prime rib French dip sandwich, which one delighted customer, Shawn Christensen, hailed as “the best thing I have ever eaten.” This unique blend of Asian, American, and French flavors dazzles the palate, showcasing the culinary creativity that defines the restaurant. Keli Griffin and David W noted the exceptional service, with friendly staff enhancing the dining experience. Whether enjoying a breakfast burrito while gazing at the ocean or indulging in the miso soup and hot bread pudding for lunch, diners leave with smiles and unforgettable memories. I frequent this hotel; the restaurant was closed and merged into this location. Previously it mainly served snacks and alcohol but is now the main restaurant. Both this place and this hotel are reliable service facilities!!

Attended the free, Thursday evening concert. Henry Kapono was awesome. Excellent cocktails, great service, and the best hummus platter we've ever had.

Went for a late dinner without reservations. We were seated in 5 minutes. The waitress Lacy was excellent! She took our order by memory and it was perfect. We ordered the avocado bacon burger and the PO sandwich with salad and waffle fries. The food came quickly. The fries were hot and crispy and the burger was perfect. The salad was good and better than average side salads. The PHO prime rib french dip sandwich was THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER EATEN! I eat out a lot and have a taste for everything. I am not joking about this thing. It's like those Vietnamese chicken sandwiches that you get at pho restaurants but it's made with prime rib roast beef. It has cilantro and pickled cabbage on it with a few Jalapenos... The dipping sauce has such a perfect complex flavor I can't describe the epicness without doing it a great disservice. It is the perfect bend of Asian/American/French... It will absolutely knock your socks off and it is my FAVORITE sandwich EVER hands down 99 out of 10! If you don't try this on your vacation you wasted the trip. Ohh yeh and it's cheap! 45 out the door dinner for 2.

Dining here was an excellent experience. The food was phenomenal and our server Lucy was so personable and lovely. We sat and were able to enjoy the sound of the ocean, nice service and food that was amazing! We will go again.

Went here for breakfast. Service was great we were seated at a waterfront table and the view was amazing! Had the breakfast burrito and the acai bowl. Both were very good! Could have split the burrito.

Legendary!! I’ve found a wonderful place to return, ASAP! Food is superb, drinks are well poured, and very good. Don’s doesn’t skimp on quality, you will definitely enjoy this legendary name, of a location loved by your father, or grandfather, when they visited the islands many years ago

We came in for a large table and they quickly put an 8 top together for us! Lacy went above and beyond for us girls and made us feel at home. She was quick, responsive and soo friendly and fun! Atmosphere is great! Thanks a ton for helping us girls have a fun night!

We ate lunch here on a Tuesday afternoon in July 2024. This was a very good experience. The waitstaff was friendly and the service was great. We started with drinks; I got a longboard (local draft beer) and she got the Mai Tai flight which was 4 different flavors to try; they looked like they were 4 ounces each. She was very happy with her selection. For the entrees we got a Banh Mi Pho Dip sandwich and the Royal Pasta. The sandwich was quite flavorful but the bread was soft instead of the classic crusty bread, and light on the cilantro and jalapeno. The dip was a light broth that enhanced the flavor but the sweet potato Mac salad was the star of the show. I got the Royal Pasta which was bow tie pasta with chicken and crisp veggies in a light red cream sauce. Though it was prepared well, I found it a bit bland. I asked the waitress for some sliced fresh jalapeno, which she got for me, and it really helped the dish! The atmosphere was relaxed and the noise level was low making it easy to converse.
